School Closing/Inclement Weather Information

In the event school is closed, delayed, or dismissed early, please listen for the West Rockhill Elementary School closing identification number - 757 on the local radio and/or television stations. Presently, students are permitted to arrive after 8:20 a.m.to begin their school day at 8:50 a.m. Dismissal is at 3:35 p.m. Based on these times, please refer to the following times and procedures for a delayed opening and/or early dismissal:

Starting times for One & Two Hour delays & Modified Kindergarten Schedule:

  • 1 hour delay - Grades 1-6 (Students report to school beginning at 9:20 a.m. Instruction begins at 9:50 a.m.).
  • 2 hour delay - Grades 1-6 (Students report to school beginning at 10:20 a.m. Instruction begins at 10:50 a.m.).
  • Modified Kindergarten Schedule:

One Hour Delay:

A.M. 10:00 - 11:40

A.M. 11:00 - 12:40

P.M. 12:25 - 3:15

Early Dismissal Procedures

  • The Superintendent will make a decision for early dismissal by 10:30 a.m. and students will be dismissed at 1:00 p.m.  A decision to close early will only be made when faced with extreme weather conditions.
  • Early dismissal information will be announced on the radio and television, as well as through the Saf-T-Net ALERTNOW Emergency Notification Service.  Please avoid calling the school office unless it is absolutely necessary.
  • Parents are asked to review with their students alternate arrangements in case adults would not be at home should school be dismissed early.
  • Students designated as "Car Riders" will be picked up at the 3rd grade Commons Door on the Playground side of the building.  Please enter the pick up area to sign out your student.  Students designated as "Bus Riders" will be picked up in the front of the school.
